Certified ISO 22000, based in Ampelofyto in Greece, in the Messenia region in the south of the Peloponnese, the Moulin Karambotsos has been producing very high quality olive oil for 50 years.  

 

The excellent quality of the olive oil comes from olive trees grown with natural methods and only with rainwater.

With an annual production of 2,000,000 liters, the Moulin Karambotsos has taken a new turn in recent years towards a more sustainable future:

 

  • By switching to a CO2-free production process

  • By implementing more sustainable packaging solutions 

  • Looking to the future with waste management

From 2023, we offer two complementary packaging options that go in the direction of sustainable development:

 

  • Distribution with 10L or 20L Bag-in-Box packaging.  The idea is that the Customer brings their own container such as a glass bottle and fills it using the valve.  

  • A 1L pouch (Pouch-Up ®) fitted with a valve to be placed on the shelf

 

These two types of packaging would bring several advantages:

  • A high quality extra virgin oil that retains its aromas, taste characteristics and nutrients

  • Ideal storage conditions (standard freshness up to 10 months)

  • An olive oil (Koroneiki and Mavrolia varieties) recognized for its health benefits

  • Easy handling

This superior category olive oil is extracted only from olives of the Koroneiki variety that are carefully harvested and mechanically processed within 24 hours of harvest.

These olives are grown in the Messinia region around Kalamata in certified organic olive groves.

Renowned for its richness in polyphenols and other antioxidants, its bright green color and its aromas of freshly cut grass, green apple and its ardor set it apart.

Its taste is juicy, fresh and peppery at the same time.

It is an abundant source of unsaturated fatty acids, notably oleic acid, a quality indicator for exceptional olive oil.

This superior category olive oil is extracted only from olives of the Koroneiki variety harvested carefully and mechanically pressed within 24 hours after harvest.

A local variety from the village of Kaplani, in the Koroni region.

Renowned for its richness in polyphenols and other antioxidants, its bright green color and its sweet aromas of green apple, almonds and its slight heat distinguish it.

Its taste is fruity, fresh and slightly peppery.

It is an abundant source of unsaturated fatty acids, notably oleic acid, a quality indicator for exceptional olive oil.

ORIGIN AND RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

All our products, 100% of Greek origin, come from local, environmentally friendly agriculture, favoring organic or sustainable methods. Particular attention is paid to the preservation of nature, authenticity and quality of manufacturing, while promoting a sustainable economy:

  • The mill used to press the olives runs on solar energy.

  • The waste is recycled: the kernels become pellets and the must is transformed into animal feed.

  • Bulk transport and distribution are made easier thanks to the use of innovative packaging.

O Kairos attaches great importance to respecting the standards of sustainable and ecological development. It is committed to a more environmentally responsible future.

The two extra virgin olive oils offered above contribute to this effort by reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 45% as well as transport costs by almost half thanks to their 1L container. , light (80g compared to 750g for a glass bottle) and fully recyclable. Additionally, these self-supporting pouches protect this exceptional olive oil from oxygen and light, the two main factors in olive oil degradation.
